What are the operation steps of rotating evaporator?

Rotary evaporator is mainly used for concentration, crystallization, drying, separation and solvent recovery in pharmaceutical, chemical and biopharmaceutical industries. Its principle is that under vacuum conditions, constant temperature heating makes the rotating bottle rotate at a constant speed, and the materials form a large area of film on the bottle wall, which can evaporate efficiently. The solvent vapor is cooled by the high-efficiency glass condenser and recycled in the collection bottle, which greatly improves the evaporation efficiency. It is especially suitable for the concentration and purification of biological products that are easily decomposed and denatured at high temperature.

Use steps of rotary evaporator:

1. Vacuum pumping

After opening the vacuum pump, it is found that the vacuum cannot be opened. Check whether the bottle mouth is sealed well, whether the vacuum pump itself leaks, and whether the sealing ring at the shaft is intact. A vacuum switch connected in series in the external vacuum pipe can improve the recovery rate and evaporation speed. The sealing performance of the rotary evaporator directly determines the evaporation efficiency and service life. The PTFE and rubber composite seal is adopted. Compared with the previous oil seal, the new seal has the characteristics of corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and strong sealing. Effectively prolong the service life of the rotary evaporator.

2. Feeding

Using the vacuum negative pressure of the system, the liquid material can be sucked into the rotating bottle with a hose at the feeding port, and the liquid material shall not exceed half of the rotating bottle. This instrument can be fed continuously. Pay attention when feeding

(1) Turn off the vacuum pump;

(2) Stop heating;

(3) After evaporation stops, slowly open the pipe cock to prevent backflow.

3. Heating

Each instrument is equipped with a heating pot, which must be powered on after adding water. The temperature control scale is 0-99 ℃ for reference. Due to the existence of thermal inertia, the actual water temperature is about 2 degrees higher than the set temperature.

4. Rotation

Turn on the switch of the electric cabinet and adjust the knob to the appropriate evaporation speed. Pay attention to avoid the vibration and fluctuation of water bath.

5. Connect

Connect the cooling water.

6. Recovered solvent

Turn off the vacuum pump, turn on the feeding switch to vent, and take out the solvent in the collection bottle.
